[H] WATSON, MY DEAR FELLOW, THE SOLUTION IS OBVIOUS: THE AMERICANS DID GO TO THE MOON ~ BUT NOT AS PRESENTED TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE IN THEIR TIN CANS (SINCE THEY WOULD HAVE DIED) BUT IN THEIR ANTI~GRAVITY "MACHINES" FAR IN ADVANCE OF OUR MODERN TECHNOLOGY ~~ SO FAR WATSON, THAT THEY HAD TO KEEP IT A SECRET AND COVER IT UP WITH A LAME-BRAIN SUBSTITUTE. THIS WOULD BE IMPECCABLE LOGIC.

OUR TIN CANS MAY BE INADEQUATE AND MAY NEED MANY MORE YEARS TO PERFECT, REGARDLESS OF PROTESTATIONS TO THE CONTRARY. POLITICS DEMANDS A 'FRONT' TO COVER THEIR "TODAY'S TECHNOLOGY" AND CANNOT OR WILL NOT DISCUSS THEIR BREAKTHROUGHS FOR OTHER REASONS....

WHAT THE DEUCE...
[[Discussion between WATSON (W) & HOLMES (H) regarding those mysterious circles in the crops....]]
W--I say old boy, what the deuce is going on with the crop circle formations?
H--Has anyone actually witnessed them being made?
W--Why-a-yes Holmes, a Canadian chap, I think...Oh...I think his name was Fuhr~ Yes! Edwin Fuhr, that's the chap's name, working in the sunny daytime fields, I believe.
H--And just what was our friend Fuhr doing in the fields of God's good sunshine, Dr. Watson?
W--Why he was driving a swathing machine, I believe sir ~ in the rape fields.
H--And the year - Watson?
W--Why, I believe 'twas 1974, if memory serves me sir.
H--And EXACTLY what did he see in the RAPE fields, Dr. Watson?
W--Well that's the devil of the thing, Holmes...The chap was scared, sir, REAL SCARED! He first noticed a round shiny object. I think he mintioned it was something like a tin duck hide, if I remember correctly.
H--What the blazes was the round shiny object doing while our Canadian chap was swathing, my dear doctor?
W--It was turning, Holmes, it WAS TURNING!!!
H--Were there any OTHER round shiny objects or any other objects at all?
W--Why yes Holmes ~ THERE WERE! Mr. Fuhr said there were FOUR others...four...like fuhr...That's how I remembered it, my dear Holmes...yes, that's how!
H--VERY GOOD MY DEAR WATSON! Now what else do you remember about this most interesting eye-witness account?
W--Well to be candid, my dear Holmes, I do, and this is the ODDEST part of the account....Fuhr wanted to run but couldn't move his blasted arms or legs....Oh! and he called the shiny round objects "stainless steel GLOBES" no more than a blasted foot off the ground! Then after 15 minutes or so, they all gave off a GRAYISH VAPOR from beneath them. A strong downward wind knocked the bloomin' rape down. Fuhr had to hang onto his bloody hat too Holmes, or it too would have been blown off his bloody head!!!
H--I see my good doctor. Now tell me, what was the result of this bizarre downward business?
W--Well Holmes, old chap, it did the darndest thing...Left a big circle in the rape field -oh about eleven feet in diameter ~ with the grass flattened CLOCKWISE, Holmes. One other thing....THERE WERE FOUR MORE OTHER CIRCLES TOO, mydear fellow.
H--My dear Watson, the solution is obvious: Globes are sophisticated 'PROGRAMMERS' shall we say...where each globe has a specific function. In this case, 5 globes = 5 circles of varied diameters.
W--And how did the bloody imprint get from the globes to the grass, Holmes???
H--Simple, Watson! The 'PRESSURE' caused a type of ~ shall I say ~ chemical-microwaveable-elctro-magnetic-sequential-SIGNAL in the ALIVE rape field which yielded to the downward thrust ~ bending each stalk in a synchronistic programmed fashion without damaging the root function of the stalk in question....I'M SURE YOU'LL FIND THE STALKS UNBROKEN!?!
W--I don't follow, my good Holmes!
H--Don't you see the BRILLIANCE OF IT WATSON!!! Whatever or whoever is doing this is emassing as many globes as is NECESSARY to complete a desired comprehensive impression....They all have pre-programmed ordained missions with LIVING interactions ~ something like 'SMART-BALLS' if you will, that will neither be affected by weather nor time of day. They are "locked-in" as it were Watson, LOCKED-IN TO CREATE WHATEVER THE BLUEPRINT HAD PLANNED IN ADVANCE!
W--I am beginning to see, Holmes...so someone must have had 69,000 smart balls to make the subsequent 'MANDELBROT SET?'
H--At least a vastly good number, my dear Watson, but CERTAINLY more than five!
